History: We have quail running around all over Central Oregon in the summer and our family loves to see them. Our quail are known as California quail. They a beautiful, plump little critters with gray feathers and a black top knot. Both kids love to watch them run around in the little covies, the daddies, mammas and babies are a delight for all.
While we were in Nevada a couple of weeks ago Moriah spotted a quail as we were driving down the road. She was so delighted see one but she noticed a difference between the quail and Nevada and the ones here in Oregon. The quail in Nevada are not quite as plump and they have "red" heads. Her comment when she saw her first quail was, "look you guys, that quail has a sunburned head". We all giggled at that and from then on, when we saw quail in Nevada we referred to them as sunburned quail.
Here are some photos of our life over the last couple of months. Some of them are from as early as the middle of May. Hope you enjoy them. Caleb getting ready to go fishing and Abbie helping. Caleb reading his book for his "Authors Tea" at school. His teacher has them write and illustrate a book and then they invite family to come and listen to them read. Afterward, they sell copies of the book to anyone who would like to purchase one. Caleb sold out, luckily I got a copy before that.
This is Moriah playing marimbas with her class's marimba band. They were really good and did 4 different shows around town. It was terrific. For Moriah's 10th birhtday she wanted to go to the coast with some friends and family. It was a blast and I don't know what we would have done without Aunt Christy and Uncle Jon. They kept the party going all day and night long.
Jon rented this surrey and it did get a workout. First by the girls with Jon and Christy driving it all over town. Jon let Moriah drive for a short while and had a little mishap the made for some funny memories. After they were exhausted, the surrey was passed to Todd, myself, Dad, Mom and Caleb. It was very fun but quite a workout.
Moriah has learned how to play cribbage. She loves to challenge her grandpa or Uncle Jon to some wicked games. The cool part is she regularly wins...oh, and she makes sure they don't forget it either.
Todd's 20th high school reunion was this year so we spent a week in Nevada. This picture is of the float he and his classmates rode on. Moriah and Caleb were invited to ride with them and they had a blast. Moriah in front of Hoover Dam Todd and Caleb in front of Hoover Dam
This summer has been very busy for us in a different sort of way. We took some trips that we needed to take and will not be taking other trips that are usually on our list to take.
The kids have busy with swimming lessons this week and will continue with them for another week unless they can talk me into getting them more lessons. We have plans to go kayaking and maybe even some camping but nothing will be far from home this summer. We, like everyone else, are feeling a little of the gas price pinch and are trying to pull back a bit which means staying within a 50 mile radius of home for a few months.
We hope your summer is going well so far. Enjoy the sunshine, we sure are.
Creativity is my passion. It flows through me in various ways from pounding on metal to photography, from sewing to fiddling with paper. Most days you will find me in my studio working on a recent design.
I love the process people go through to make their ideas into creations. Teaching people that everyone has some creativity is important to me. Equally important is helping people realize that the very essence of creativity suggests that we draw outside the lines so to speak.
My goal with this blog is to share with you my inspiration, design and the design that comes into fruition.
I hope you enjoy it and I welcome your thoughts and comments.
