Our Own Little Adventure.
Ah, summertime. It is finally here, right? It's been so hot the last couple of days and so enjoyed at our house.
We just got back from a camping trip, the first one in our new to us camp trailer. It is about as old as the hills but we are happy to have something of our own to go camping in. It has the 70's green and orange through out and desperately needs to have some updates which I will get to...eventually. the first update is to remove the orange curtains and replace them, they are icky. Anyway, we had a successful camping trip to LaPine State Park. Close to home and yet far enough away that we felt like we were on our own little adventure.
We left on Friday evening, pulled into the camp site and proceeded to discover the wonders of having a home on wheels. Todd got everything all hooked up and figured out which was an adventure all it's own. The kids were very anxious to make s'mores so the fire was going before anything else. Abbie spotted all the chipmonks right off and was shaking with excitement and delight the whole weekend. Needless to say, she sent a lot of time tied up so she wouldn't bolt. We put the kids to bed and waited for them to fall asleep, and waited and waited. Around midnight we decided to quit star gazing and head to bed ourselves even though the little ones were not even ready to slumber. The stars are so beautiful in the forest. I always forget how amazing the night sky is until we get out somewhere where the light pollution is non-existant. The first night of sleep was interesting. Our little bed is, well, little. We woke up very early and a little grumpy with the sleepless children.
After breakfast we decided to go find a body of water to soak in as it was extremely warm. Little Cultus Lake made our day wonderful and we found a beautiful spot to drive to on a hot day. Abbie spent the entire 3 hours we were there in the water swimming. She loved it and Moriah and Caleb enjoyed swimming with her. When we got back we had hotdogs for dinner, the kids roasted their own, and topped it all of with more s'mores. Isn't that what camping is about. All in all we had a lovely time and are glad to be home.
There were so many activites we could have been a part of this weekend but all entailed way more travel than we were wanting to do. We are sad we missed out on spending time with family and friends but so glad we got to have a little fun on our own so we didn't feel like we were missing out so much.
Hope you all had a great weekend and are enjoying your summer.
